Introduction

The invention regards a new method for the simultaneous treatment of wastewater and the generation of electric energy using salinity gradients by reverse electrodialysis.

Technical features

The method involves the utilization of a reverse electrodialysis stack fed with water with different salinity in order to have the simultaneous treatment of wastewater and the generation of electric energy. The method can be used in industrial plants and in urban wastewater treatment sites for the simultaneous treatment of wastewater contaminated by pollutants resistant to conventional biological processes and the generation of energy, using water with different salinities.
