Swarm-bots to print electronic circuits over large areas

Collaborative roboticselectric circuitsInformatica Tsd Enprinted electronics

Introduction

The invention consists of a collaborative robotic system, in which identical robots divide a task to speed up the production: the more robots at work, the shorter the execution time. Each robot is autonomous and acts as a printer, equipped with two ink cartridges, one electrically conductive and one insulating.

Technical features

The invention consists of a collaborative robotic system, in which identical robots divide a task to speed up the production: the more robots at work, the shorter the execution time. Each robot is autonomous and acts as a printer, equipped with two ink cartridges, one electrically conductive and one insulating. In addition to the WiFi system for communicating with the PC, the robots are equipped with a laser and an ultraviolet LED to dry the inks. The operation of one or more robots allows the creation of electronic circuits of any complexity on surfaces as large as desired, task which is impossible by conventional means. By equipping robots with a suction cup locomotion system, it is possible to create for example the entire electrical plant of a house, giving it an aesthetic aspect as well as a function.

Possible Applications

  • Printing electrical plants in private houses, buildings of any size and complexity;
  • Printing wirings and electrical connections on ceilings and glass facades;
  • Printing over curved surfaces, for example boats interiors;
  • Introducing the aesthetic element of electrical wirings.

Advantages

  • There is no alternative technology for the non-destructive ex-post realization of electrical plants of buildings;
  • Cheap and fast, depending on the number of single agents working, with linear reduction of realization time.
