The invention concerns the use of micro-doses of erucic acid as a pharmaceutical or dietary supplement, to be administered, for example, conveyed in liposomes or other pharmaceutical formulations, for the prevention and treatment of ischemic heart disease, and for the prevention of thrombotic disorders and of the prothrombotic diathesis in general. The supplementation would be finely controlled thanks to an encapsulation of predetermined micro-doses. The invention also relates to diagnostic methods involving the evaluation of blood erucic acid concentrations as a diagnostic and prognostic tool in patients with thrombotic disorders and / or cardiovascular diseases.
