The invention regards a method for detecting phenotypic alterations at telomeres -the ends of chromosomes- as new biological aging markers. The present invention is also related to a kit, based on the method, which allows the determination of the biological age and the rate of aging.

The present invention regards a method for making available a new aging marker which can contribute to the determination of biological age, aging and / or related diseases. In summary, this method allows the visual evaluation of telomere abnormalities associated with aging in humans, as indicators more sensitive than the total telomere length evaluation. The accuracy of the method allows the quantification of the aberrant structures at telomeres without any use of chemical agents able to induce them.
