Electronic steering towards satellite signals
The invention is a HW+SW system to optimize steering to receive multiple signals from positioning satellites without using any moving mechanical parts. The invention decreases unwanted effects of the surrounding environment, as casual interferences, intentional interferences, and multipath, and allows a more precise position and time estimate.
The invention includes more than one antenna and a control software to optimize steering towards global positioning satellites. The software properly combines the signals from the antennas to generate multiples beams and steer them towards the visible satellites, amplifying the important signals and dampening noise sources. The software reacts in real time to satellites motion and to the possible motion of the structure where the invention is mounted. The optimized steering mitigates the unwanted effects of the surrounding environment, as casual interferences, intentional interferences, and multipath, and allows a more precise position and time estimate. The system works with all satellite positioning systems, as for instance the signals coming from GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS, QZSS, or from any other satellite navigation system (i.e. multy-system).
