“Disc-SAR” – Interferometric radar with rotating antenna
Introduction
The invention concerns a ground-based interferometric antenna-based radar particularly suitable for monitoring large structures such as slopes, caves and open pit mines and other architectural constructions.

Technical features
The patented radar is part of the ground-based radar family (GBSAR) capable of interferometric monitoring and, therefore, of providing highly accurate displacement maps over an entire field of observation. Unlike conventional GBSARs and other known solutions, however, the patented radar is equipped with a rotary antenna that improves image acquisition speed, thereby enabling applications that are previously only potential, especially in the movement monitoring activities related to large natural or artificial structures.
Possible Applications
- Monitoring of large architectural structures;
- Slope movements monitoring.
Advantages
- Increased image acquisition speed;
- Reduction of mechanical parts.
