Who we are

Where Innovation Happens

Knowledge Share platform is a joint venture involving Netval, the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM) at MIMIT (Ministry Of Enterprises and Made in Italy) and the Politecnico di Torino. It showcases projects developed by Italian Universities and Research Centres, in pursuit of collaboration and commercialisation opportunities. Access is free and open to all large companies, SMEs, investment funds, Italian and foreign accelerators and incubators and is subject to registration. By registering to the platform, users will be able to interact with the project team, access content relating to published projects, and send contact requests for technologies and realities of their interest from which possible collaborations and synergies may arise. The KS 2.0 platform renews the objective of optimising contact between research and the entrepreneurial network, but with a new and constantly updated user experience and content. In fact, among the major new features, the patent section has been joined by the Start-Up and Spin-Off sections: a highly relevant implementation, especially for the world of innovation today. Not only that, to make it easier for users to search for projects, KS 2.0 uses AI to improve the 'match' between what they are looking for and the projects on the platform. Finally, in addition to further implementations of the platform, the aim of the KS project is to be able to replicate the KS 2.0 platform model internationally through scalable and replicable projects. A goal that is being worked on to generate impact through a real ecosystem, in addition to the one already existing thanks to the KS community in Italy. The Knowledge Share platform and related events are projects developed and strenghtened within the PNNR and the Next Generation EU project.

Our goals

Our aim is to make the contents of projects easily accessible, to convey in a clear and simple way the advantages that technologies can bring to the sectors they target, and to connect the world of business, investors and innovators with that of research.

The Italian Patent and Trademark Office of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT-UIBM)

The Italian Patent and Trademark Office of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy is the office responsible for administrative procedures related to the granting, renewal, and maintenance of Industrial Property titles (patents, trademarks, and industrial designs) and promotes their valorization.

From this stems the determination and commitment to foster the development of the Knowledge Share platform, which over the years has proven to be an innovative essential tool for the innovation ecosystem, also serving businesses. This commitment has laid the groundwork for a new phase, Knowledge Share 2.0, made possible also thanks to the support of the Next Generation EU Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). This evolution increasingly opens the doors to the international dimension, positioning itself as a bridge between the Italian ecosystem and the global one.

Netval

Partner

Netval

NETVAL Association represents the Italian network of Technology Transfer and Third Mission offices of public research.

It was founded in 2002 as an informal network among 28 universities. In 2007, the Association with legal personality and nonprofit purpose is established. Today it has more than 100 members including universities, Public Research Institutions, IRCCSs and other entities working in the field of innovation promotion and technology transfer.

Three are the keywords on which Netval has been firmly founded since its foundation: sharing, promotion and support.

Through training programmes and participation in events and initiatives proposed by the research and innovation ecosystem, together with institutional missions to expand networking synergies, Netval is constantly working on training and strengthening the skills of universities, PROs and IRCCSs in the field of exploiting research results.

In the system of promoting the culture and best practices of Technology Transfer and Third Mission, Netval acts as a hinge and institutional interface with the business world.

Hence the willingness and commitment to support the birth and growth of the Knowledge Share platform, which over the years has proved to be a futuristic and necessary tool for the innovation ecosystem, so much so that it has laid the foundations for a Knowledge Share 2.0 - thanks to the support of the PNRR Next Generation EU - that increasingly opens its doors to internationality, acting as a bridge between Italian and global networks.

Politecnico di Torino

Politecnico di Torino was the first Italian Engineering School founded in the wave of the technical and scientific innovation that gave rise to the most prestigious European polytechnic schools in the mid-19th century. Founded as School for Engineers in 1859, it then became Regio Politecnico di Torino in 1906. Engineers, architects, designers and urban planners have been trained at Politecnico di Torino for over 160 years with rigor, integrity and high-level standards.

This long ever-changing history has rated Politecnico among the top European technical Universities for education and research, with 38,700 students and a teaching staff of more than 1,000.

In an evolving global context disrupted by the effects of globalization, climate change, population aging, new and increasingly pervasive technologies, Universities are expected to progress in order to produce an impact on a rapidly changing society. Politecnico di Torino has therefore decided to transform itself into a “platform” University expected to be permeable, inclusive, open to the labour market and to industry, with a key role in innovation and lifelong learning. The goal is to become a driving force for a societal sustainable development.
